Comment by the Information and
Press Department on events in central Kiev

Moscow is closely following the
protests that have not abated near the Verkhovna Rada building in the centre of
Kiev.
These events are evidence of the
fatigue in Ukrainian society that has accumulated as a result of the government’s
numerous unfulfilled promises to overcome the severe social and economic
crisis, deal with corruption, and fundamentally improve people’s living
standards.
Calls for the president to
resign are being heard in the central squares of Kiev again, like four years
ago. One cannot help but experience déjà vu.
We hope that the administration
in Kiev will not try to use the current political turbulence for the next
escalation of the situation in Donbass. This would have very serious
consequences for the internal Ukrainian settlement process.
